HIGH DESERT ART LEAGUE
The 12 members of this group are all accomplished artists who exhibit a wide range of talents in various media. Luminous watercolors, vibrant oils, and pastel paintings are specialties of several members - Vivian Olsen and Cindy Briggs create art in all three media and their subjects range from birds and European scenes to regional landscapes. There is more in the watercolor realm with the graphic figures and dramatic landscapes by Helen Brown and Jacqueline Newbold (who also creates fine art jewelry). Working in oils, artist Barbara Slater paints large, vivid florals on canvas. Janice Rhodes uses hot wax as her medium creating encaustic paintings. Pat Clark produces abstract images using a variety of skills including the techniques of relief printing, embossment, chine collé, mixed media, and drawing. David Kinker is known for his large murals and his colorful acrylic abstract and landscape paintings. Joren Traveller is a Sculptor artist who creates bronzes of horses and birds and paints them as well in oils. Lisa and Lori Lubbesmeyer and JM Brodrick are new members who were welcomed to the League in 2016. Lisa and Lori collaborate on colorful, moving scenes they create with Fiber and JM paints realistic horses, figures, and landscapes with acrylics.

The High Desert Art League was formed in 2000 as a professional artists' group working to support the advancement of its member artists through exhibitions, education and related outreach. Each artist contributes their experience and talents to benefit the group, sharing knowledge, information, opportunities, challenges and successes.

All members (maximum 12) of the High Desert Art League are professional artists, most with considerable experience and awards in their field. Their work can be found in galleries throughout the West and in private collections.
