JM Brodrick

"My Grandmother helped me connect with other artists and shape me at an early age to express myself with painting" says Brodrick.

Brodrick studied painting in her youth and received her first scholarship at the age of 13. Her grandmother, who was a professional artist from Helsinki Finland, guided her love of the arts. She grew up in a working artist environment.

In 1977 she moved to Fairbanks Alaska where the rugged lifestyle and freedom of the open country inspired her to further develop her artistic talents. Brodrick now lives in Oregon and is surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Brodrick's paintings are in numerous corporate collections in the United States and Europe and Japan including: AtlanticRichfield Corporation, the embassy of the Russian Federation in Washington D.C., and the State of Alaska and Global National Health Hospital in Tokyo.

JM Brodrick's painting "Morning Glory" was the winner of a Merit Award for February, and has won a one year subscription to Art of the West.

The strength of JM's drawing skills pulls you into the painting and yet she doesn't feel the need to draw every detail.  We both appreciate the refined drawing of the horse and textural quality of the background. This painting combines the representational and abstract aspects of painting in an effortless manner in addition to capturing beautiful light. Kim and Kelley
